Winchester Hospital Named Third Best Place to Work in State

Winchester Hospital was named the third best place to work in Massachusetts according to a survey by the Boston Globe.

The hospital was also the highest ranked health care organization on the Boston Globe’s Top Places to Work 2014 list in the largest employer category.

It was the only hospital to be recognized in all seven years of the program’s existence and has placed in the top five on the list each year, according to the Winchester Hospital facebook page.

“This award demonstrates the deep commitment all our employees, physicians, board members and volunteers have for the health and care of our patients,” said Kevin Smith, CEO of Winchester Hospital in a press release.

Winchester Hospital employs 2,700 workers in Massachusetts and throughout the United States, according to the Globe survey.

The hospital is one spot lower on the list this year. It was named No. 2 on the Boston Globe’s Top Places to Work in 2013, according to the survey.

“Employer success can’t be measured solely in profits and revenue,” said Boston Globe Business Editor Mark Pothier in a press release. “What matters most to employers are their people.”

The Boston Globe invited 1,660 companies to become involved in the Globe’s 2014 Top Places to Work Survey and 366 of those companies participated. More than 73,000 employees filled out confidential 24-statement surveys and rated their employers based on seven factors, the Globe reported.

“This year’s winning companies go above and beyond to motivate and challenge their workers, which tends to encourage innovation and loyalty,” Pothier said.
