ICYMI: Winchester Invited To Celebrate MLK's Birthday Monday

Winchester Unitarian Church to host event.

The Winchester Multicultural Network and the Family Action Network (FAN) welcome members of our community — and particularly families with children — to join in a celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday on Monday from 3:30-5 p.m. in Metcalf Hall at the Winchester Unitarian Church.

As in the past, we plan to display a wide range of student artwork and writing commemorating the holiday. The event, open and free to the public, will also have a performance by professional story-teller opportunities to make art, and refreshments.

The story teller is Valerie Tutson, who will be adapting her "The Right to Liberty!" program to fit the MLK Day theme and the young audience of many pre-schoolers. Tutson has been telling stories in schools, churches, libraries, festivals and conferences since 1991. Her repertoire includes stories and songs she learned in her travels to South Africa, her experiences in West Africa, stories from African American history.
