Photography has thought to have originated in the early 1800s, and the leaps in photographic technology since then have turned many people into at least a casual smartphone-photographer. If you want a break from scrolling through Instagram, enjoy the photography of experts in the book selections below. My personal favorite is Vivian Maier, who was a street photographer in Chicago for decades, but her negatives weren’t found and her work not shown until after her death.
