Winchester Runners Compete in the Marathon
Here's a look at how the Winchester runners fared in the Boston Marathon.
Winchester resident Tom Flummerfelt, 36, was the first local to cross the at Copley Square after completing the 26.3-mile race that began Monday morning in Hopkinton.
Flummerfelt was one of 36 Winchester residents registered for the race, and he completed the course 1,101st out of 27,000 runners, in a time of 2 hours 56 minutes 54 seconds, according to official results posted on the Boston Athletic Association Web site.
The first Winchester woman to cross the finish line, according to the BAA, was Rebcca Trachsel, 36, who finished 7,620th overall and 1,368th out of 11,462 women competing, with a time of 3 hours 29 minutes 49 seconds.

The winner of the 2011 Boston Marathon was a Kenyan man, Geoffrey Mutai, 29, who finished in a time of 2 hours 3 minutes 2 seconds, according to the BAA. Also from Kenya, the top female runner was Caroline Kilel, 30, with a time of 2 hours 22 minutes 36 seconds.
