Winchester Student to Build School in Guatemala

The Winchester High School student is fundraising to build a school in a poor country in Central America.

A junior at Winchester High School plans to build a school for children in Guatemala in 2015.

Megan Reid traveled the Guatemala through the nonprofit School the World last year and plans to return again in February.

She is fundraising $3,500 to pay for travel and the school building costs.

School the World builds schools, trains teachers, engages parents and stocks libraries in poor countries. Find out more about the organization’s mission on the School the World website.

“I was blown away last year by how happy the people in Guatemala were to have us be in their communities and how grateful they were to have a new school building,” Reid said on her fundraising page on Classy.org.
