Update: Winchester Voters Say Yes To Override

WINCHESTER -Winchester voters said yes to the town's request for a $10 million override on Tuesday. According to unofficial results, it was 2,845 saying Yes, 1,899 saying No.

Overall, 14,329 residents went to the polls or 34 percent of registered voters.

"Many thanks to all who worked so hard to support our town and schools and provide much-needed teachers, books, and technology for our students," said Superintendent of Schools Judith Evans on Twitter. "We are truly grateful."

In the Select Board race, Susan Verdicchio (2,795 votes) and Amy Shapiro (2,775) won seats with Vincent Dixon (1,030) third. There were 2,883 blank ballots.

Those who were running unopposed and won easily include Peter Haley (moderator), John Fallon (assessor), Catherine Donaghey (Board of Health), Wendy Karle and MaryAnn O’Callaghan (Board of Library Trustees), Diab H. Jerius (three-year term on Planning Board), Heather Sauceda Hannon (one-year term on Planning Board), and Christian Nixon and Karen Maruyama Bolognese (School Committee).
