71 Woburn Industrial Workers To Lose Jobs: Report
A metal-production company says it will make the layoff because of an operational accident that occurred far from Massachusetts.
WOBURN, MA — Seventy-one workers in the city will lose jobs next month due to an industrial accident in South America.
Boston Metal, a “green” steel-making company headquartered on Sixth Road, will eliminate the Woburn jobs on March 14, according to a notice filed with the state Friday.
The layoff stems from an accident at the company’s Brazilian subsidiary, which forced Boston Metal to miss an operational milestone critical to a pending financial deal, the Boston Business Journal reported.
