• City Council again continues public hearing regarding redevelopment of three-family house off Church Street (homenewshere.com) — Woburn's City Council has again delayed a decision on replacing a rundown three-family house off Church Street with two townhouses, pending a legal opinion on whether a zoning variance is needed. Councilors also approved emergency Eversource conduit repairs near Hurld-Wyman School with conditions to address a leaking transformer on Sheila Avenue, and signed off on sign wording changes at the Mass General Brigham facility by the Kohl's plaza.
• Civil service – Promotion (masslawyersweekly.com) — A state Civil Service commissioner has ordered Woburn to redo part of its sergeant promotion process after finding the tie-breaking interviews for two candidates, including the mayor's son, lacked objective safeguards. The current promotion will temporarily stand, but the city must run a new, fairer process, raising important questions about transparency and merit in Woburn's police leadership.
