Barbara M. (Lauzon) Reidy, 85, of Woburn

Barbara was an active member of St. Barbara's Parish.

BARBARA M. (Lauzon) REIDY passed away Wednesday, May 18 surrounded by her loving family. The beloved wife of the late Bartholomew S. Reidy, she was eighty-five years of age and lived a humble and faith-centered life of service to others.

Born in Everett,raised in Somerville, Barbara was one of four daughters of the late Franklin and Grace Lauzon. She graduated from Somerville High School with the class of 1948. After High School she spent eight years in study and service with the Maryknoll Sisters in New York.

Following her time at Maryknoll, Barbara returned to the Boston area and began work at Laboratory for Electronics (LFE). She met her future husband, Bart, at a company-wide talent show at LFE, and they married soon after. They settled in Arlington for a few years before moving to the west side of Woburn in 1962, where they raised their seven children.

Upon moving to Woburn, Barbara was an active member of St. Barbara’s Parish, and was devoted to supporting the missionary work of the Maryknoll Sisters, helping the less fortunate through several church programs, and to promoting respect for the sanctity of life at all ages.

A devoted mother, Barbara’s family was the center of her life. After her husband’s sudden death in 1984, she returned to work to provide for her still young family. She always had a sparkle in her eye, particularly when in the presence of the youngest members of her family – her twenty grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Barbara is survived by her children Grace Girotti and her husband Robert of New Hampshire, Kathleen Richburg and her husband David of Woburn, Mary Farrell and her husband James of New Hampshire, Barbara Norcia and her husband David of Methuen, Stephen Reidy and his wife Tryphena of Littleton, Donald Reidy of Boxborough and Bart Reidy and his wife Carly of Burlington. She was blessed with her grandchildren Thomas Girotti; Brian, Eric, Kayla and Mark Richburg; Trina, Danielle, James Jr., Meaghan and Connor Farrell; David Jr., Christina, Michael and Anthony Norcia; Liam, Declan, and Owen Reidy; and Carson, Grayson, and Bart Reidy, Jr.; and by two great-grandchildren, Emma Richburg and AJ Norcia. She is also survived by her sister Rosalie Faherty and her husband Joseph of Woburn and a large extended family. In addition to her husband and parents, Barbara was predeceased by two sisters, Alice Biron and Gertrude Curley.

A funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main St., Woburn on Tuesday, May 24 at 9:45 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Barbara's Church, 138 Cambridge Rd., Woburn at 10:30 a.m.. Interment in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to calling hours on Monday, May 23rd from 4 - 8 p.m. Remembrances may be made in Barbara's memory to the Heartbeat Pregnancy Help Center, PO Box 153, Burlington, MA 01803.
