Boys Hockey Playoffs Open Sunday for Tanners
Woburn takes on Middlesex rival Burlington in the North Division 1 opening round.

The Woburn High School boys hockey team has proven itself to be among the best teams in Division 1. Starting Sunday, they'll have the chance to prove just how good they are.
Following a 10-6-4 regular season, the Tanners snagged the No. 4 seed when the North Division 1 brackets were released earlier this week.
As a result, the team earned a quarterfinal date with Middlesex League rival and defending state champion Burlington on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. The game is scheduled to take place on the ice of Chelmsford Forum.

Whichever team advances past Sunday's game faces another stern task. The winner will play either No. 1 Chelmsford or No. 9 Melrose in the semifinal round.
Woburn skated closely with Burlington during the regular season. On December 19, the Tanners played to a 2-2 draw before falling to the Red Devils, 3-2, on February 16.

The Tanners started off hot this year with a win over defending Division 2 champion Wilmington and a 3-0-1 record out of the gate. After hitting the skids a bit with a 2-5-1 mark in its ensuing games, the locals put things back together and finished strong to earn the No. 4 seed in the tournament.
