Broken Driver's Side Mirror Leads To Drug Bust
Police say they found 10 bags of alleged marijuana, and charged a Somerville man with intent to distribute.

When police stopped a Ford Explorer with a fractured driver’s side mirror, they wound up finding 10 bags of suspected marijuana and charging Jose Fuentes, 30, of Somerville, with intent to distribute a Class D substance, according to official documents. The driver, Raphael Caminero, 29, of Woburn, was charged with operating a vehicle with a suspended license.
Around 1 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 4., police pulled over Caminero, Fuentes, and a third man in a sport utility vehicle with a dangerously dysfunctional driver’s side mirror on Medford Street in Somerville. A quick investigation into Caminero’s driver’s license showed that overdue child support payments had mandated its suspension, police say, and he was promptly arrested.
Police recognized Caminero’s two passengers from prior encounters, and issued them both citations for failure to wear seat belts. An ensuing search of the Explorer yielded a black laptop bag, which Fuentes claimed belonged to him, containing 10 small plastic bags of what police thought to be weed.
