City Announces Voter Registration, Absentee Ballot Deadlines

WOBURN, MA — The City of Woburn has announced voter registration and absentee ballot deadlines for the State Primary Election on Sept. 8.

Registration

In order to vote, voters citywide have until 9 p.m. on Aug. 19 to register to vote, change a name or an address for the upcoming election. Residents can register to vote online, through the mail or by visiting the Woburn City Clerk's office. You can also register to vote at the Registry of Motor Vehicles.

The City Clerk's office will be open until 8 p.m. on Aug. 19, but residents can register at the City Clerk's office beforehand during regular business hours, which are Monday through Wednesday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Thursday 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and Friday 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Mail-in in voter registration cards have to be postmarked by August 19, 2016.

Absentee Ballots

Absentee Ballots are available for all voters citywide, and must be filed to the City Clerk's office by Sept. 7 at noon. A written application must be filed by all voters seeking to vote by absentee ballot. Ballots may be mailed to voters upon written request or a voter may vote by absentee ballot in the City Clerk's office.

To be eligible to vote by absentee ballot, the voter must be out of the city during the hours the polls are open, have a physical inability to get to the polls, or have a religious belief that prohibits the voter from voting on election day.
