Credit Union Donates To Woburn Boys & Girls Club

The donation comes following WMFCU's social media campaign that ran throughout September.

From WMFCU: Woburn Municipal Federal Credit Union (WMFCU) is pleased to announce the donation of $250 to the James L. McKeown Boys and Girls Club of Woburn. The donation comes following WMFCU’s social media campaign that ran throughout September. WMFCU pledged to donate $1 to the Boys & Girls Club for each like on their social media pages. On Tuesday, James McCorkle, President and CEO of WMFCU, presented a check of $250 to Julie Gage, Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Club of Woburn.

The Boys & Girls Club of Woburn opened a new facility last September. The facility offers a heated 6 lane swimming pool, game room, two regulation-sized basketball courts, teen center, two preschool classrooms and much more. Having fundraised $8.3 million of the $9.2 million project, $900,000 is still needed in funding for the facility’s mortgage.

“Every dollar counts,” said Gage. “We rely largely on donations since it costs only $25 a year for a student to be a member while it costs about $850 per child to run the program,” she added.
