Cummings Properties Touch-a-Truck Event

Fun for all ages at free community event

Calling truck enthusiasts of all ages! Cummings Properties’ Touch-a-Truck event is here again. This free community event takes place Sunday, May 17 from 10 AM to 1 PM at West Cummings Park in Woburn.

This year’s Touch-a-Truck highlights are expected to include a Cryo Truck, a helicopter landing and take-off, and a vintage snow machine. Organizers also anticipate showcasing aerial lifts, tow trucks, a concrete mixer truck, fire trucks, and lots of construction vehicles.

Woburn resident and Cummings Properties senior grounds team leader Brian Borselli noted that one of the best parts of the entire event is the interaction between safety officials and the public.

“This event provides opportunity for kids and adults to have a hands-on experience with all kinds of interesting trucks and equipment and the people who operate them.”

Special attractions this year will include a Jaws of Life demonstration by the Woburn Fire Department, which will also bring its Safe House to show children how to escape a house filled with smoke. The City of Woburn Police Department will bring police cruisers, and the United States Marines and Air Force will be on hand, displaying some military vehicles. Additionally, a Child ID program is scheduled to offer parents a chance to create free identification kits of their children, and Little Gym will hold an open house.

“We are happy to host this community event,” said Greg Ahearn, Cummings Properties’ vice president of field operations and a longtime Woburn resident, “and especially happy to have the snow machines out for pleasure not business after the long winter!”

Bob the Builder will attend the family-friendly event and distribute complimentary souvenir hard hats and balloons. Admission and parking are free, and food and drinks will be available for purchase from Diner in the Park, Sal’s Pizza, Subway, and Woburn Cub Scout Pack 502.

This event will be the ninth time Cummings Properties has teamed up with government agencies and local businesses and organizations to offer this free family event. Held every other spring, Touch-a-Truck typically draws as many as 3,000 children and adults from the Greater Boston area.

There are still some spots available for exhibitors. While reservations are not required, they are strongly suggested, as space is limited.
