Deadline To Register For Woburn Election Is October 18

The application for absentee ballots for the Nov. 7 general election is noon on November 6.

WOBURN, MA -- Woburn residents have until 8 pm on October 18 to register to vote in the general election on November 7. The city is asking residents to use tools on its Voter Registration Information Website, including the lookup to see whether or not they are already registered to vote.

The city clerk will have extended office hours on October 18 from 9 am to 8 pm to answer questions and help people register to vote. Mail-in registrations need to be postmarked October 18 or earlier. For more information call the Woburn Office of the City Clerk at (781) 897-5850.

There are three contested Alderman's races in this year's city election. Aldermen are elected to serve two-year terms on city council:

  • Ward 3 Incumbent Mark Gaffney will face challengers Claire Malaguti of Colonial Road.
  • John Beauchamp challenging incumbent Edward Tedesco in Ward 6
  • Charles Viola challenging incumbent Lindsay Higgins. Higgins defeated Viola two years ago.

Mayor Scott Galvin and City Council members Joanne Campbell (Ward 1), Richard Gately (Ward 2), Michael Anderson (Ward 4) and Darlene Mercer-Bruen (Ward 5) are all running unopposed in November's election.

Registered voters can also apply for an absentee ballot; voters have until noon on Noveber 6 to file for an absentee ballot. A written application must be filed by all voters seeking to vote by absentee ballot. Ballots may be mailed to voters upon written request or a voter may vote by absentee ballot in the office of the City Clerk.
