Women's Self Defense Class

The Women’s Self-Defense course at Woburn Aikikai is designed to help women identify dangerous situations and provide practical, effective techniques for managing confrontations.

The martial art of Aikido specifically deals in non-confrontational resolutions, and this philosophy is at the heart of the WSD class. This class teaches techniques to shift the balance of power long enough to avoid danger. The goal is not to win, but to escape unharmed. The techniques taught employ the principles of Aikido, while also incorporating more direct modes of striking and escape.

The course consists of one, two-hour session that will cover a range of topics. There will be a discussion, a fairly rigorous warm up, and an application of technique.
