Girl Scout Registration To Be Held Once a Year
Only registration period will be held this month.

The Woburn Girl Scouts organization will hold only one registration period for 2012.
Kerri Walsh, the Woburn Girl Scouts registrar, said that many eastern Massachusetts communities already moved to the one registration per year method, but the city was still holding spring and fall registrations.

The only Woburn Girl Scouts registration and information night is May 23 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the , 535 Main St. If a parent is unable to register their daughter next week, parents can contact the Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts directly to sign up.
Walsh said she hopes that by holding one registration in May, it will give the organization more time to recruit adult volunteers.

"We are in need for leaders—aunts, moms, grandmothers, big sisters," said Walsh.
Registration for the Girl Scouts organization is $12. It does not guarantee troop placement, but it does give girls the opportunity to participate in monthly town events, such as square dancing, bowling, caroling, swimming and parades, and camping.
"Joining is so much more than a troop nowadays," said Walsh. "There are different pathways and journeys."
