Hotel Brands Revealed For Woburn Landing Development

The hotel will have 103 rooms branded under Homewood Suites and 132 rooms branded under Hampton Inn.

WOBURN, MA -- The company building a hotel as part of the redevelopment of the W.R. Grace parcel on Washington Street has broken ground on the project. In a statement Monday, Concord Hospitality Enterprises said it was building a 235-room hotel that would be co-branded by Homewood Suites and Hampton Inn. The hotel is expected to be completed in late 2019.

When lead developer Madison Holdings secured financing for the hotel in December, it would only say it would be a dual-branded Hilton property. Hilton previously operated a Hampton Inn in Woburn on Mishawum Road before selling that property to an operator that rebranded it as a Holiday Inn Express. The closest Homewood Suites is in Billerica near the interchanges of Route 3 and Route 128.

Earlier this month, City Council approved changes to Madison Holding's application that would allow a fourth restaurant to be located on the property. The original plans called for three restaurants, with one being located in the hotel. Under the new plan, two restaurants would be located in the hotel.

Alderman-At-Large Michael Concannon and Ward 5 Councilor Darlene Mercer-Bruen, whose district includes the development, were the two city council members who voted against the approval. A Red Robin restaurant is already operating on the site and a Chik-Fil-A restaurant is under construction. The two additional restaurants -- 110 Grill and an as-yet-unspecified, sit-down restaurant -- would be located in the hotel being constructed on the site.
