Hurld-Wyman Farmstand To Serve As Ward 3 Polling Place

WOBURN, MA — The Hurld-Wyman farmstand will serve as the new Ward 3 polling place, after a City Council vote at their Jan. 7 meeting. The farmstand replaces the shuttered Hurld School, and has 29 of its own parking spaces separate from the neighboring Hurld-Wyman Elementary School. New Alderman Jeff Dillon moved to designate the polling place, at his first regular council meeting.

Dillon noted that if school was out of session, there would be an additional 50 parking spaces. The vote was unanimous. The Daily Times Chronicle first reported this change.

"The use of the farmstand building is somewhat unique in that the facility is still associated with the community's schools, which the city relies upon for use as polling stations during elections," reporter Patrick Blais noted. "However, in allowing voters to head to a building that is not directly attached to the educational facility, voters in Ward 3 will not have to worry about potential conflicts with students."
