Janice Damon, Longtime Wayland Resident, Historical Society Member, Dies at 55

Damon lived in Wayland for more than 34 years, and graduated from Woburn High School.

Janice Ann (O’Rourke) Damon, 55, died on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 following a period of declining health.
She was born in Winchester on October 10, 1959 the daughter of the late Peter R. O’Rourke and Lillian F. (MacDonald) O’Rourke.

Janice was the beloved wife for 33 years of Richard T. Damon of Wayland. Loving mother of Ryan M. Damon of Wayland and Ethan P. Damon of Worcester. Daughter-in-law of Gertrude A. (Fuller) Damon of Wayland. Sister of Peter J. O’Rourke and his wife Chrissy of Pembroke, NH; Joan L. Graham and her husband Albert of Hooksett, NH; John O’Rourke of East Haven, VT; David O’Rourke of Pembroke, NH; Stephen O’Rourke of Pembroke, NH and Susan Perkins and her husband Robert of Billerica. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.

Janice has been a resident of Wayland for over 34 years and spent her formative years in Woburn. She was a graduate of Woburn High School with the Class of 1977. She received her BS in Chemistry from Regis College in Weston with the Class of 1981. For many years, she was a chemist with Commercial Union Insurance in Waltham as well as the Boston Edison Company where she traveled to elementary schools and educated children in electrical and chemical electricity. She was a member of the Wayland Historical Society. Her greatest passion in life was her family and her children and she delighted in sharing her love and talent with all children. She will be greatly missed by all the lives that she touched in her lifetime.

Visitations were held on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am followed by her funeral services at 11:00 am at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Rte 30), Wayland.

Interment in the Damon family lot in North Cemetery will be private for her family.
