La Posada Restaurante in Arlington
Check out a nearby community's terrific Mexican fare.
in Arlington is unlike any Mexican restaurant you’ll find in the area. Located on Mass Ave in Arlington Heights, La Posada dishes up authentic Mexican cuisine. You think you’re an expert on Mexican food? Think you’ve tried it all? Think again! Once you eat at La Posada, you’ll look at Mexican cuisine in a whole new way. And, boy, is it worth the trip! The food is hot, fresh and delicious and priced very reasonably. So what are you waiting for?
Décor: The restaurant is tiny, but it makes up for it in it is very open and welcoming dining area. The décor is dark and the place has low lighting and small candles on each table. You’ll find funky Mexican kitsch decorating the walls and shelves.
Beverages: La Posada specializes in Aqua Fresca. We highly recommend the Tamarindo Aqua Fresca but they also have Jamaica, Horchata as well as seasonal flavors such as Mango. They serve Jarritos soda, Mexican Coca Cola (highly coveted for their glass bottles and real sugar), Iced Tea, Coffee and Bottled Water. They do not serve alcohol, but you can bring your own beer and wine to have with your meal.

Appetizer: You’ve never had Queso quite like this. La Posada’s ChoriQueso has melted Queso Chihuahua and Cheddar mixed in with ground Chorizo and Roasted Poblano peppers. You’ll be scraping the bowl clean with your Totopos and chips. La Posada also has taquitos, spicy chicken wings in a Tamarind & Chipotle Glaze, Tostadas, Chalupas and Nachos with different types of toppings. Brought friends? Share a La Posada Appetizer Platter.
Entrees: The lunch and dinner menu are quite different. From the lunch menu we highly recommend the Chilaquiles, a mound of tortillas, green salsa, chicken and cheese. For dinner, start off your meal with a soup like their sopa de albondigas (Mexican Meatball soup) or their Ensalada de Nopales that has fresh cactus leaves instead of lettuce. For the main entrée they have quesadillas, fajitas (which are served “flaming”), burritos, tacos and enchiladas, all of which have a combination of fillings and toppings you won’t find at your regular Mexican eatery. Other entrees include beef, chicken, pork, fish and seafood. We highly recommend the Carne Asada, which is thin cut steak served on a hot plate and topped with cheese and grilled onions.

Sides: Most dishes come with Mexican rice, black beans, pico de gallo and sour cream. You can also ask for a side of guacamole or fresh cut avocado. All patrons get a basket of tortilla chips and salsa that is complimentary.
Desserts: Loosen that belt and make some room for dessert. This Woburnite was very happy to see Churros on the menu! Churros are long sticks of fried dough, tossed in cinnamon sugar and served with a hot chocolate-caramel sauce for dipping. La Posada adds a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side. They also have homemade Flan, Tres Leches Cake and Fried Ice Cream.
