Lions Halloween Parade

Woburn Host Lions Prepare For The Annual Halloween Parade - Can you help?

Woburn Host Lions

The last Sunday in October is traditionally "Parade Sunday" in the City of Woburn. Thousands of people join together along Main Street to cheer the many fine bands, wave to the floats, catch up with old friends and celebrate the true spirit of Halloween. For a small town "Home Coming Day" feeling this is one fall event in New England that you don't want to miss out on.

What started as a small community event in 1954 has become one of the largest, best attended regional parades in the State, drawing viewers from Woburn and all its’ surrounding communities. Many organizations from Woburn and surrounding communities participate in the Parade with floats, bands and presentations showing their pride in their community.

The event, a local tradition like no other draws in excess of 80,000 people from Woburn and other communities throughout Middlesex County. The parade features over 25 bands such as the University of New Hampshire, Boston College, Waltham American Legion and many New England High Schools.

Please remember that our Lions Club utilizes this parade as a vehicle to raise money for the Massachusetts Lions Eye Research Fund and may other local not for profit organizations.

All of the over 100 members of the Woburn Host Lions Club and many others from the Middlesex Lions, Breakfast Lions and Leo Club volunteer their time to make the parade a success. Planning and running the event involves many, many hours of work over the course of the year. No one is paid a penny, but this is a labor of love, the satisfaction gained form putting on a first class community event and being able to help others in need is all the reward we need.

What most people don’t realize is that the cost to run the parade is now more than $50,000 annually and the Woburn Host Lions is responsible for meeting this obligation. It is a big risk – but one we take on willingly. And that’s why We Need Your Help

How Can You Help?

We know you are asked frequently for donations for many causes, but we are hoping you will find this a worthy request to help us cover the cost and continue this wonderful tradition. We are happy to receive donations in any amount, but there are special opportunities to donate and be recognized during and after the parade.

We are asking you to find it in your heart to make a generous donation and help us to help those less fortunate than ourselves.

Please make checks payable to:

Thank you for your continued support.

Respectfully,
