Martin Luther King Day 2016: What's Open/Closed in Woburn

Martin Luther King Day is Monday, Jan. 18.

WOBURN, MA—Martin Luther King Day is a federal holiday held on the third Monday of January. It celebrates the life and achievements of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. State and federal offices will be closed in observance of the holiday, while retail stores and most other businesses will be open.

Here’s a look at what’s open and what’s closed on Monday, Jan. 18:

  • Town offices: Closed
  • Schools: Closed
  • Libraries: Closed
  • Banks: Closed
  • Post offices: Closed
  • Retail stores: Open at owner discretion
  • Grocery stores: Open at owner discretion
  • Liquor stores: Open at owner

While most MBTA subway lines will operate on a Saturday schedule, the commuter rail is running on a regular schedule.
