Mary Elizabeth 'Mae' (Murphy) Moge, 94, Lifelong Woburn Resident

WOBURN, MA — Mary Elizabeth "Mae" (Murphy) Mogé passed away at the Lahey Clinic Friday, July 29 with all of her beloved children at her side. The late wife of Francis A. Mogé, she was ninety four years of age.

A life long resident of Woburn she was born in her family homestead, one of two daughters, born to the late James H. and Mary E. (Flaherty) Murphy. Attending Woburn Schools, Mae was a graduate of Woburn High School along with the Class of 1939. While in High School she befriended a lot of wonderful people and one of those was named Fran Moge. They were chums during the school years and after. When Fran enlisted in the service Mae kept up correspondence with him all throughout his time over seas. Upon his return home they dated and in 1948 they became husband and wife and journeyed together over the next thirty seven years.

Bringing three children into the world kept Mae extremely busy! They had built their home in the Horn Pond Section of the City and their home was the "hub" of all gatherings and celebrations for the family throughout the years.

Holidays were her specialty, particularly Halloween, she would always have the youngsters come into her home, model their costumes, give them a "treat" and send them on to the next house! She did this every year for every trick or treaters! Their home was always elegantly dressed up for every holiday.

The Mogé family also had the pleasure of summering in Seabrook. Each year for over fifty years it was the gathering spot for all fun in the sun activities and a wonderful place for family to gather, which still continues!

"Nana" was happiest being "Nana" after the children grew and began families of their own. To spend time and attend all of their recitals, meets, events in sports and academia, religious ceremonies and later weddings was all a complete joy.

Since childhood Mae has had a very strong faith and belief in God. Always faith filled she met each day as a new day with all the vim and vigor that was needed. Her impact on her friends and people in general was very special and she made a strong, comfortable impression on all. President, jester, richman or pauper she touched them all and loved them all. Mae's relationship with her sister though, only grew stronger with each passing day and they meant the world to each other.

Mae was a very active member of St. Charles Church, St. Charles Parish and St. Charles Catholic Woman's Club.

Sadly Mae was predeceased by her parents, her husband of thirty seven years Fran and loving granddaughter Meaghan Moge.

Mae was the loving mother of Barbara Callahan, her husband Barry of Woburn, Brenda Mogé of NH and Francis M. Mogé, his wife Irene of Tewksbury. Dear sister and best friend of Jacquie McManus, her husband William of Woburn. Cherished "Nana" of Jaclyn Leonardi, husband Paul, Carolyn Round, her husband Tom, Erika and Patrick Mogé. "Great Nana" of Ian and Grant Leonardi and Bradley Moge.

A Funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main St., Woburn on Tuesday, August 2nd at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main St., Woburn at 10. Interment in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Monday 3-7 p.m.
