Mike Concannon At Large Alderman Campaign Announcement
The incumbent is running for re-election to his city council seat.

Mike Concannon: Mike Concannon of One Rose Farm Lane recently announced that he is a candidate for re-election to the position of Alderman at Large on the City Council in the City of Woburn’s upcoming municipal election on Tuesday November 5th. In his announcement, Concannon offered the following:“It is with great pride that I announce that I am running for re-election to the position of Alderman at Large in the November 5th municipal election. With your support, (and with the support of my amazing wife Annmarie and my five children- P.J., John, Tim, Bob, and Katie), I will continue to represent Woburn’s best interests on the City Council.“Six years ago, when I first ran for this position, I pledged to use my life experiences to bring a positive, respectful, and cooperative approach to addressing the issues facing our city…so that we could keep our city affordable, desirable, and safe.
That included using my personal experience - as a lifelong Woburnite, as a husband and father, as a homeowner and taxpayer for more than 31 years, and as an involved member of our community for my whole adult life- as an active parent in the schools, as a supporter of the Woburn Public Library, as a coach on the athletic fields, rinks, and courts, and as a member and Past President of the Woburn Host Lions Club . And, it also included using my professional experience- as a now retired Massachusetts State Police Major and Undersecretary of Public Safety for the Commonwealth, as a college professor at UMass Lowell, and as an attorney in the private sector. I am gratified and thankful for your support in the past three elections and I believe, (and I hope that you agree), that I’ve done what I said I would do. Therefore, I ask for your support once again.“While serving on the City Council these past six years, I’ve tried to do the job the right way. I have tried to hear all sides of every issue, to gather all the pertinent facts, to research the relevant law, to respect different viewpoints, and to make decisions that are in the best interest of the city. As the Chairman of the Finance Committee and the Liaison to the School Committee, I am actively involved and keenly aware of the important issues facing our city in order to make informed and fact-based decisions. Some of those decisions were tough, but I can honestly say that I have always voted for what I felt was best for Woburn. I have tried and will continue to try to do what I feel is right and to do it respectfully and professionally.“In making those past (and future) decisions, I have been and will continue to be guided by certain core beliefs. First and foremost, I believe in public service in the spirit of the citizen representative (and not the career politician). That is why I voted against a City Council pay raise and why I voted for term limits. I also believe in being careful with the people’s money (and never forgetting that it is the people’s money).
Additionally, I believe in maintaining a high level of city services and in fostering a strong sense of community, in the value of education, in ensuring the safety of all of Woburn’s citizens, in a balanced approach to development, and in a civil and respectful approach to conducting the people’s business.“In closing, I respectfully ask for your vote for Alderman at Large on Tuesday, November 5th. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact me at mpcesq@aol.com or at 781-281-1054. Thank you.”
