New Horizons's Barbara Graham Named Boston 25 News Hometown Hero

WOBURN, MA — Barbara Graham, director of community relations at New Horizons at Choate, was honored as a hometown hero by Boston 25 News, Friday.

Graham has been with the Woburn assisted- and independent-living community for 10 years and has lived in Woburn since 1991. Residents and other staff members showed praise on Graham in her segment on the morning news.

“What a wonderful surprise,” said Graham in a statement. “To be recognized for doing something I truly enjoy is so very moving.”

The segment noted in particular the socially-distanced outdoor graduation ceremony Graham spearheaded for the facility's 11 student workers who graduated this spring, as well as lip sync videos she directed with residents in recent years.

“Barbra brings a special passion and creativity to everything she does,” Executive Director Christine Coakley said in a statement. “Her dedication to making New Horizons a warm and fun environment has had a lasting impact on residents and staff alike.”

Residents praised Graham, calling her "a gem" and " a great person."
