Obituary: Elizabeth (Georgulakos) Busa, Lifelong Woburn Resident

Busa lived in the South End her entire life.

The following is from Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home.

Elizabeth (Georgulakos) Busa, of Woburn, passed away at her home Thursday, Jan. 22. The beloved wife of the late Anthony Busa, she was 91.

Born in Woburn, she was the daughter of the late Kyriakos and Arcondula (Poulakithakos) Georgulakos. One of seven children, she lived in the South End of town her entire life, graduating from Woburn High School with the Class of 1941. It was there she met her husband of 64 wonderful years. The two met when she dropped her books and he helped pick them up. They were inseparable ever since, marrying in 1944. Soon after they wed, they began their family, raising five children.

Elizabeth was known to be a phenomenal cook! Whether it was in the traditional Greek or Italian fashion, she did them both superbly! Her husband Anthony came home every day for a delectable three course dinner at lunch time.

Two things that Elizabeth really enjoyed were gardening and antiquing. Often she could be found out in her yard tending to her lavish gardens and a beautiful poppy field. “Green Thumb” to say the least, Elizabeth could and would take a piece of a plant from anywhere, bring it home, nourish it and voilà, a beautiful plant would grow! Both she and Anthony were antique enthusiasts. Making friends where ever their travels took them, they enjoyed sharing this with friends and family.

Once her family was raised, Elizabeth returned to work. Working in the maternity ward of Winchester Hospital for over 16 years, she was also in attendance for the birth of some of her grandchildren.

Elizabeth’s greatest satisfaction was putting a smile on loved ones’ faces. She was a good friend to many, and there was nothing she wouldn’t do for anyone. Elizabeth was known throughout her entire life for being a woman who always put others first, always caring for those in need, providing food for those who were sick or were suffering in some way, and doing very kind deeds for all.

In addition to her parents, Elizabeth was predeceased by her beloved husband, Anthony Busa, and her siblings, James, Kathryn, Helen, Jennie, Viola and Sophia George.

She is lovingly survived by her children Beverly A. Connelly and her husband Joseph of Reading, Anthony J. Busa of Woburn, Daniel G. Busa and his wife Marjorie of New Hampshire, Donna M.
