Obituary: Stella M. Phelan, Longtime Resident of Woburn

Stella M. Phelan, 92, a longtime resident of Woburn, passed away after a short illness on Saturday, December 27. She was the wife of the late Joseph J. Phelan, Jr. who died in 1985.
Born and raised in Chelsea, she was the daughter of the late Frank, and the late Gladys Olszyna. Stella and her late husband Joseph lived for a short time in Belmont, before moving to Woburn’s West Side in 1954. Stella had remained active until her recent illness. She enjoyed being outside, tending her yard and gardening. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Stella is survived by three sons, John F. Phelan; Joseph J. Phelan, III and his wife Susan; and James M. Phelan; and she was preceded in death by one daughter, the late Linda Silva. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Joseph Phelan IV, Kerry Lewis, and Garrett Phelan; and six great grandchildren, Emily Earle, Mathew Earle, Camiele Lewis, Evan Lewis, Angelina Lewis, and Joseph Henry.
Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Stella’s memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 10 Speen St., 2nd Floor, Framingham, MA 01701. Arrangements by the Graham Funeral Home, Woburn.
