Patriots Recognize Woburn Man For Community Service

The team named Rodney Flynn of Woburn its Difference Maker of the Week earlier this month for his work with a North Andover nonprofit.

WOBURN, MA -- The New England Patriots named Rodney Flynn of Woburn its Difference Maker of the Week on Dec. 7. The award is presented by the team each week during the NFL season to "deserving volunteers who go above and beyond to support their New England communities."

Flynn was selected for his work with Angel Flight of New England (AFNE), a nonprofit organization based at the Lawrence Municipal Airport in North Andover. The group gives free air and ground transportation to children and adults who need to receive life-saving medical care that is outside of the geographic area.

Flynn has volunteered with the group for 17 years, driving patients from airports and hotels to medical facilities throughout greater Boston.

"Volunteering is something I have been doing my whole life," Flynn said. "I’ve also teamed up with volunteers in the Woburn community to clean up conservation areas, collect donations for a local food pantry and provide Thanksgiving meals to local families in need. It’s something I’ve always enjoyed doing."
