POLICE LOG: Dog Scares Intruder Off Property

March 14 – At 9:27 p.m., a Woburn woman reported her basement broken into sometime during the day. According to police, fresh pry marks were found on a bulkhead door. A dog on the main level of the home may have scared off the intruder, said police. Nothing appeared to be missing from the home, reported police.

Other Incidents:

March 14 –

At 8:02 a.m., a Connecticut man reported his car broken into overnight while it was parked at the Residence Inn on Presidential Way. Police said nothing was taken from the vehicle.

At 8:02 a.m., while investigating a report of a car-break at the Residence Inn, police found another car that had also been broken into. Three computers and two monitors were taken from the vehicle, said police.  

At 12:13 p.m., a Woburn woman reported receiving a fake check. According to police, the woman was selling a computer on Craigslist when she received e-mail correspondence from an interested buyer. The buyer sent a check, which the woman learned was a fake check. She brought the check to Woburn Police. The matter has been forwarded to the detective division.

At 12:39 p.m., police responded to a report of a man “acting crazy” in a Main Street parking lot. According to police, the man received a letter and became upset. Police said the man “started driving his car in a hazardous fashion in the parking lot area… then exited the car and started hitting things with a cane.” The man was gone when police arrived.

At 2:25 p.m., a Woburn woman reported cash and two gold bangle bracelets missing from her room at a Montvale Avenue home.

At 3:24 p.m., police assisted a couple with a custody issue.

At 3:36 p.m., police responded to a two-car accident on Montvale Avenue at Dunkin’ Donuts. According to police, one car was taking a left out of the Dunkin’ Donuts parking lot when a car stopped to let him go. Witnesses told police a car in the next lane was traveling fast and struck the car as it was turning.

At 4:17 p.m., police conducted traffic surveillance at Kimball Court and Pearl Street for one hour.

At 6:46 p.m., a Woburn man and woman reported harassing text messages and Facebook posts. According to police, a New Hampshire woman has sent several messages to both parties including “inappropriate name calling.”
