POLICE LOG: Man Jumped Overnight
An excerpt from the WPD police log. The following arrest information was supplied by the Woburn Police Department. The arrest does not indicate a conviction.

March 19 – At 12:16 a.m., an officer was dispatched to Winchester Hospital to speak to the victim of a mugging. According to police, the victim, a 26-year-old Woburn man, was walking toward Montvale Avenue near the old railroad bed, when he was “jumped” by two males who got out of a gray, large SUV-type vehicle. The victim told police he was kicked and punched several times before the two men got back in the car and drove away. Police said no other suspect information was known.

March 16 –
At 6:59 a.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Green Street. One man was escorted off the property.
At 12:45 p.m., police were dispatched to Rehabilitation Way residence for a report of an attempted scam on a woman. According to police, a woman received a phone call from a person claiming to be her grandson. The caller told her that her grandson had been arrested in Mexico City and needed money. The woman agreed to wire money to the grandson through Western Union. Police said when the woman went to Western Union at Stop and Shop, the clerk told her it was a scam and for her to call the police. The responding officer spoke to the woman and was at the home when the “grandson” called asking for the money. Police spoke to the man, who hung up immediately. Police escorted the woman to the bank so she could re-deposit her money.
At 12:53 p.m., a Woburn woman reported her car scratched and the contents rifled through. According to police, there were no signs of forced entry to the vehicle.
At 5:04 p.m., a Kimball Court resident reported her car vandalized while it was parked in the lot. Police said a portion of the grill was missing from the car.
At 5:11 p.m., police were called to Sylvanus Wood Lane for a report of a fight outside a home. According to police, three people were arguing over turning on the heat in the home. Police said this is a civil matter stemming from who owns the house. During the altercation, a window was broken on the first floor, said police.
At 7:03 p.m., police responded to a report of a verbal argument on Chester Avenue.
At 7:35 p.m., police were called to a Tremont Street home for a 911 hang-up call. According to police, officers have responded to the address several times in the last week for incidents. Police said the problems stem from two of the residents drinking alcohol.
At 9:16 p.m., police were dispatched to Creston Avenue for a disturbance. One man was asked to leave the residence for the night.
March 17 –
At 12:23 a.m., police were called to the Red Roof Inn for the possibility of a party being held in one of the rooms. Police knocked on the door and were asked to wait a minute. When police entered, it appeared that several people had left the room through the window. Police spoke to a group of people gathered in the parking lot and advised them to go home.
At 12:36 a.m., police responded to a one-car accident on Main Street. According to police, one car struck a parked car. The car was towed from the scene.
At 3:17 a.m., a Woburn woman reported receiving 20 or more harassing text messages from an ex-boyfriend.
At 9:55 a.m., police responded to a Main Street address for a report of an argument. Police asked one man to leave the property. He did so without incident.
At 10:22 a.m., police were dispatched to a two-car accident on Main Street at Salem Street and Manns Court. According to police, a driver was waiting for a third car to turn, when it was struck from behind. Witnesses on scene reported the car did not brake before hitting the other. The driver was cited for failure to use care while braking.
At 11:03 a.m., police responded to a two-car accident at Washington Street and Olympia Avenue.
At 11:46 a.m., a Woburn man reported his car windshield damaged by BB pellets three days earlier.
At 4:03 p.m., a Woburn woman reported her 14-year-old daughter ran away. While the woman was speaking to police, a family member called and said the teen was with her. The woman told police she would go to the home to find her daughter and bring her back.
At 7:21 p.m., a Poole Street man reported receiving a delivery from Pete’s Roast Beef that he did not order. The man told police a similar incident happened earlier in the week. According to police, teens may be involved and the matter has been forwarded to the school resource officers.
At 10:09 p.m., an officer was flagged down near Scoreboard for a report of a stolen purse. During the investigation, it was discovered that the woman’s daughter took her mom’s purse by accident.
March 18 –
At 7:39 p.m., a Munroe Avenue resident reported that approximately 14 pairs of Nike sneakers stolen from an enclosed front porch. The sneakers are valued at over $1,000.
At 8:39 a.m., police responded to a report of a damaged mailbox on Day Circle. During investigation, the officer discovered another mailbox similarly damaged.
At 10:49 a.m., a 37-year-old Woburn man was summonsed to Woburn District Court for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and not meeting Registry of Motor Vehicle standards for a vehicle. According to police, an officer observed the driver and passenger of a vehicle wrestling or looking for something while driving on Main Street. The officer pulled the car over and learned the driver did not have a valid license.
At 12:40 p.m., police responded to a report of a two-car accident on Washington Street. According to police, there were no reported injuries. One driver was cited for operating without a license and failure to yield when turning left.
At 4:38 p.m., police were dispatched to a two-car accident on Green Street. Police said one driver was cited for failure to yield the right of way at an intersection.
