POLICE LOG: Woman Reports Daughter's 'Chatango' Activity to Cops

An excerpt from the Woburn Police Department's Nov. 2-6 police log. The following arrest information was supplied by the Woburn Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The following is an excerpt from the  log. Please note that this is a sampling of activity in the log, not a complete account. We report all arrests included in the daily police log.

Nov. 2 –

At 2:05 p.m., a Woburn man was struck by a car on Washington Street at West Cummings Park. According to police, the man was walking when a car was exiting West Cummings Park. Both thought the other had stopped and made contact. The man declined medical treatment, said police.

Nov. 3 –

At 2:19 p.m., a person at New England Resins reported finding a pocketbook in the lower parking lot. According to police, the purse had been taken during a motor vehicle break earlier. Police said the purse was water-soaked, but appeared nothing had been taken.

At 4:52 p.m., an officer was dispatched to an ongoing neighbor dispute on Poole Street. According to police, the two neighbors were arguing over the property line. One man told police he was shoved, while the other said the man stubbed his toe.

At 9:57 p.m., police responded to Kohl’s for a report of four male shoplifters being detained by the store’s loss prevention officer. According to police, the store declined to pursue criminal charges after the teens returned the $220 in clothing. Police said a spring-loaded folding knife was taken during the incident from a 17-year-old Burlington teen.

At 10:33 p.m., officers were dispatched to a verbal dispute at a Poole Street residence. Police restored the peace and stood by while everyone calmed down, said officers.

Nov. 4 –

At 8:19 a.m., a Cedar Street resident reported three hub cabs stolen from his leased vehicle while parked in the Jefferson Crossing parking lot overnight. Police said the hub cabs are worth about $80 each.

At 6:42 p.m., a Woburn woman reported several unauthorized purchases were made with her credit card online over the last two days. According to police, several hundreds of dollars of items were purchased on websites, including Abercrombie, Zappos, Macy’s, Dockers and Nordstrom.

At 6:54 p.m., a Salem Street woman reported someone speaking to her daughter on an Internet chat room called “Chatango.” According to police, the woman said a person claiming to be a 15-year-old boy in Canada has been speaking to her daughter extensively and signs off by saying “I love u” to the girl. Police said the teenager did not give the officer or her mother any further information about the person to prove or disprove that he is a Canadian teen.

Nov. 5 –

At 10:41 a.m., police responded to the Joyce Middle School for a report of a two-car accident. According to police, a woman was exiting her car when another car pulled into the spot next to her. The door and the car collided, causing slight damage to both cars, said police. No injuries were reported.

At 11:45 a.m., police were called to a Merrimac Street apartment for a report of a verbal argument. Both people involved said the fight was verbal only.

At 2:06 p.m., a School Street man reported receiving several threats via text message from a former roommate. According to police, both men owe each other money.

At 8:37 p.m., police responded to a two-car accident on Lexington Street. According to police, one car rear-ended another before fleeing the scene of the crash. There were no reported injuries. Police were unable to find the other vehicle.

At 9:01 p.m., police were dispatched to a two-car accident on Cambridge Road. According to police, one car crossed the double-yellow line, causing a head-on collision with another vehicle. Both drivers were treated at the scene of the crash and refused further treatment, said police. One driver was cited for a marked lanes violation and failure to use care and caution while driving.  

Nov. 6 –

At 1:15 a.m., a Main Street resident reported his bedroom window smashed while he was sleeping. Police were unable to find any evidence of who may have broken the window.
