Popular Woburn Restaurant Opening Second Location In North End

The Woburn-based Italian restaurant's chef and owner hopes the new location will open by the end of May.

WOBURN, MA -- TreMonte, a popular Woburn Italian restaurant, plans to open a new location on Salem Street in Boston's North End. The restaurant is taking over space at 76 Salem Street that had been occupied by Limoncello 2 for less than a year.

TreMonte chef and owner Antony Contarino told Eater Boston, which first reported this story, that he had not expected to be opening a restaurant so soon after opening TreMonte Pizzeria in Tyngsborough last fall. "To sign a deal to open another restaurant two months after opening the other is tough, but the space was great and my family is from the North End. I figured I ought to take the shot now while I have the opportunity," he said.

The new restaurant will have a similar menu to the Woburn location and focus on Italian classics, including littleneck clams in a spicy tomato broth, arancini, Caprese salad, veal chops, and pasta dishes. The restaurant will also have an extensive wine list if the Boston licensing board allows a requested transfer of Limoncello 2's liquor license.
