Push Underway for More Parking in Woburn Center
Many businesses and residents in downtown Woburn agree more parking is needed in the area. They want the city to take action.

Downtown business owners, employees and residents want additional parking in Woburn Center. In fact, a member of the city’s Redevelopment Authority is leading the push to attain more parking.
According to the Daily Times Chronicle, a petition has been passed around between stores, shops and restaurants in downtown Woburn in an effort to force the city into solving the area’s severe parking issues.
“There are just so many options out there,” Gary Fuller, of the Woburn Redevelopment Authority, told the newspaper. One option he suggested was building a parking garage where the city’s municipal parking lot is located.

The petition to create more parking reads as follows:
“We, the merchants, residents and employees of downtown Woburn, collectively agree that we are in urgent need of a parking garage to service the growing needs of our downtown. It is clear that we no longer are able to function using the existing parking as we have outgrown what was once a viable plan. The economic development of downtown Woburn depends on growth and prosperity and that would include drawing new businesses and residents to the area while maintaining the success of the existing businesses.”
