SCI Summer Concert Series Continues Friday with School of Rock

The 2024 SCI Horn Pond Summer Concert Series got off to a strong start this past Friday, with One Moe Time playing before a crowd of some 250 people. One Moe Time is a 7-piece party band from northern Boston, including a bassist from Woburn. They brought dance, rock, and funk music from the 60s, 70s, and beyond. An eager crowd of about 250 people danced, clapped, and swayed to One Moe Time’s variety of tunes. This event was sponsored by Lamacchia Realty.

The next SCI Horn Pond Summer Concert at Ice House Park is Friday, July 26, 6-8PM featuring School of Rock Burlington as both the performer and sponsor. School of Rock Burlington offers students a transformative experience of learning to play music with others.

Programs of School of Rock Burlington will be showcased by students ages 7 to 17 who will perform the following songs amongst many others: Drive My Car (The Beatles), Fade Into You (Mazzy Star), Mr. Brightside (The Killers), The Thrill is Gone (B.B. King), You Really Got Me (The Kinks). Enjoy an evening by the pond, and be impressed by the students’ musical skills and stage presence.

Additionally, there are two concerts scheduled in August:
August 9 – Ashanti Eva Davenport will bring the sounds of soul, R&B, and hip-hop to Horn Pond. Sponsorship for this event is available.
August 23 – Irish Whispa is making a return from their 2015 SCI Horn Pond Summer Concert performance with their upbeat Irish sound. This event is sponsored by Winchester Savings Bank.

All concerts are FREE to the public. The concerts are held 6-8PM at Ice House Park, the grassy area alongside the Sturgis St. end of Horn Pond. Pack lawn chairs or blankets and a picnic to enjoy along with the beautiful view of Horn Pond and the live music.
