Second Man Arrested In Woburn Shooting

A Middlesex County District Court judge ordered the two brothers held without bail.

WOBURN, MA -- A second man has been charged in connection to a weekend shooting in Woburn that police say stemmed from an argument over a $10 debt. Aaron Cooper, 29, and Asa Cooper, 28, both of Boston, were ordered held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing scheduled for Feb. 22.

Woburn Police said Saturday morning that they had arrested Asa Cooper in connection to the shooting. The Middlesex District Attorney's office confirmed on Tuesday that Aaron Cooper had also been charged. Woburn Police did not respond to requests for comment Tuesday.

Police were called to Highland Street just after midnight Saturday for a report of shots fired. There they found a 43-year-old Woburn man with gunshot wounds to his legs. The victim was taken to a hospital with what police described as non-life threatening injuries.

Witnesses said they were approached by a group of people, including Cooper, in a minivan with the business name "One Call" on the side and school bus signage. They said an argument over a $10 debt ended with Copper shooting the victim multiple times.

Stoneham Police stopped the van on Interstate 93 a short time later. Police said that a weapon has not been recovered and that the investigation is ongoing.

Both men are charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, armed assault with intent to murder, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, possession of ammunition and possession of a firearm without a license.
