Social Capital Inc. & Woburn Public Schools to Host Welcome Night

WOBURN - Social Capital Inc. (SCI) in partnership with the Woburn Public Schools is holding a “Welcome Night” on Tuesday September 26, 2017 from 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm. With an increasing number of new students and families moving into Woburn, this event will provide an opportunity for them to engage with representatives from local community organizations as well as fellow community members.

The purpose of the event is to connect these families with nearby groups and services so that they are able to learn more about the community resources available to them and their children. Local nonprofit organization Social Capital Inc. is partnering with the Woburn Public Schools to help develop this “Welcome Night” series and encourage participation.

The “Welcome Night” will feature representatives from a variety of local groups including Woburn Recreation, the International Learning Center, the James L. McKeown Boys & Girls Club of Woburn, the Council for Social Concern, the North Suburban YMCA and many more.
Community members of all ages are welcome to attend, as child care and translators for both Spanish and Portuguese will be available.

This event is part of an ongoing effort #WoburnUnites to help establish a welcoming environment for families and students of all backgrounds, especially those new to Woburn.

The mission of SCI is to strengthen communities by connecting diverse individuals and organizations through civic engagement initiatives. Founded in 2002 in Woburn, SCI has grown to serve 20 Eastern Massachusetts communities while continuing to make a difference in Woburn.

This project is funded through CHNA 15 DoN funds from Lahey Hospital and Medical Center and Winchester Hospital.
