Spirit of Giving: 3 Nonprofits To Support In Woburn

WOBURN, MA -- Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season on Nov. 28. Since its inaugural year in 2012, #GivingTuesday has become a movement that celebrates and supports giving and philanthropy with events throughout the year and a growing catalog of resources, said the organization.
The following seven nonprofit organizations operating or helping in Woburn are worth looking into if you want to keep your charitable giving local this holiday season:
- Woburn Council of Social Concern, Inc. is a charitable, community-based agency responding to the basic needs of people of all ages, providing early childhood education and care, helping individuals develop their potential, creating positive family and community relationships, and fostering respect for diversity. Council of Social Concern was founded in 1969 by a group of concerned citizens who wanted to promote a sense of "neighborliness" in the community and address the absence of quality, affordable childcare and housing issues. Today, Council of Social Concern assists over 2,400 individuals per year, with the support of close to 230 volunteers.
- Based in Woburn, Hearthstone Alzheimers Foundation Inc. support community based assisted living services.
- House Rabbits Network is based in Woburn and cares for unwanted rabbits and provides rabbit education.
