Student Slashed With Knife During Fight At Woburn Middle School
Officials placed the school under a "shelter in place" order that was lifted after police finished their investigation.

WOBURN, MA -- A Kennedy Middle School sixth-grader slashed the hand of a classmate in the hand with a small knife during a fight in a classroom Thursday morning. The 12-year-old victim's injuries were describe as "superficial" and non-life threatening.
Police were called to the school in Woburn after a teacher called 9-1-1 to report the incident at 7:50 a.m. An 11-year-old student allegedly pulled out the steak knife during the fight between the two boys.
"Due to the fact that this incident involves juveniles, there are certain things we cannot discuss under the law, but we have determined that this incident was not a random act and it appears to be an isolated incident,” officials said in a statement. "Out of an abundance of caution, the school was placed in Shelter in Place mode during the initial investigation, but the school has returned to its normal schedule at this time."
