The Restaurant Raises the BAR

A new dining experience at an old favorite.

The BAR @ The Restaurant

You’ve never seen quite like this before. Woburn’s favorite deli-style restaurant has kicked things up a notch. Just last month, owner Peter Mamakos revealed the new fine dining addition called “The BAR”. Unlike The Restaurant, The BAR has it’s own upscale menu and full bar and table service.  The Restaurant has literally raised the bar with this new fancy addition. So if you are looking for a great dining experience, look no further than an old favorite.

Décor – Things look quite different at The Restaurant these days. There are two entrances. The door on the right takes you into The Restaurant’s café area and the door on the left takes you into The BAR.  The area glows with green lights and the orange and green fixtures plus the dark wood furniture give the area a very modern ambiance.

Appetizer – Depending on the season, The BAR has a special appetizer menu with the latest offerings and deals.  On the regular appetizer menu, you can find standards like wings, fried mozzarella, nachos and spinach artichoke dip. They also have sliders, tuna taki, tuna poke and a special BAR quesadilla. We very highly recommend their delicious hummus platter. Enough for two people, this platter has roasted red pepper hummus, ranch dip, local honey, crispy pita strips, carrots, broccoli, celery, pepper jack cheese and grapes. It’s an appetizer you won’t soon forget.

Beverages – What would a BAR be without a large selection of beverages? The BAR has everything for the discerning palate. There are numerous beers on tap and in bottle and a variety of red and white wines. The BAR serves frozen tropical drinks, everything from margaritas, strawberry daiquiris and pina coladas to fun drinks named “winter blizzard” and “mango tango.” They also have specialty cocktails like Creamsicles, Bloody Marys, Cranberry Appletinis, Chocolate Martinis and much more. Next time we’ll have to try their Big Fat Greek Wedding Cake cocktail!

Main Menu – Served all day, this menu includes salads, soups, and sandwiches. You can order a cup or bowl of their chili or their soup/chowder of the day. Salads include Mediterranean House, Caesar, Spinach & Blue Cheese and Gorgonzola Apple. Top any of these with chicken, steak or salmon for an extra cost to make it a meal. Also on the menu are French Dip sandwiches, Chicken Bacon Swiss, Monte Cristo, Salmon BLT and a Grilled Portobello Wrap. Hungry? Try their monstrous BAR burger that is topped with cheese, bacon, two enormous onion rings, barbeque sauce and all the standard fixings.

Dinner Entrees – They really raised the bar with their BAR entrée menu! Selections include Steak au Poivre, Pork Tenderloin, Chicken Marsala, Steak Tip Mone Carlo, Chicken Piccata, Pecan Crusted Salmon, Blackened Ahi Tuna and much more. Entrees come with your choice of two sides. Also on the menu are pasta dishes including Pasta Primavera, Alfredo and Shrimp Scampi. The star of the show has to be the Seafood Paella which is fully loaded with shrimp, scallops, fish, mussels, clams and Greek Smoked Sausage.

Desserts – Made room for dessert? The BAR has grape nut pudding, chocolate double-layer cake, cheesecake, carrot cake and hot apple pie a la mode.

Service – The BAR is open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday and 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. The Main Menu is offered all day and the dinner Entrees are only available after 2 pm. There is full service at the tables and at the bar.
