School of Fashion Design

Celebrating over 90 years of excellence in fashion education, The School of Fashion Design is the only educational institution in New England dedicated exclusively to the study of fashion design. SFD provides students with a solid foundation in apparel design and construction, and the skills required for a successful career in fashion. Our technical Certificate program is taught by experts in the field of fashion design. Students may take courses toward the Certificate or on a class-by-class basis to fill professional education interests. For creatives and textile arts enthusiasts, SFD offers workshops in various fiber arts such as weaving, lace making, embroidery, millinery, upcycling, and more. As an SFD student, you will join a diverse community of emerging designers. Our studios are filled with recent high school graduates, students from nearby colleges enriching their education with fashion, and working professionals embarking on a new career path. SFD faculty and students are active partners in our local community, collaborating regularly with organizations and businesses through internships, exhibitions, field trips, and special events. You will have the opportunity to enjoy a guided tour of the collections, highlighted by the art of Matisse, Degas, John Singer Sargent, and Titian. Imagine the missing masterpieces in their empty frames!    The museum was modeled after renaissance palaces of Venice.  The building completely surrounds a glass-covered courtyard. Relax in this courtyard, surrounded by the splendor of luscious greenery and beautiful statuary.    Tickets for this tour have sold out. The bus will leave from the Woburn Public Library at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, April 2. The tour, which lasts an hour, begins at 12:30.  Prior to the tour you may explore special exhibits and visit the gift shop.
