Vigil Saturday for Slain Woburn Police Officer John B. "Jack" Maguire
The vigil will be held at Kohls in Woburn at 7:30 p.m.

Friends and family of slain Woburn police officer John B. “Jack” Maguire will hold a vigil marking the fifth anniversary of his death on Saturday night.
Maguire was killed in the line of duty while responding to an armed robbery in the jewelry section of Kohls in Woburn on Dec. 26, 2010. Reports suggest that Maguire and one of the suspects exchanged gunfire and both were fatally wounded outside of the store. Maguire had served on the Woburn police force for 34 years.

Scott Hanright, the alleged lookout during the incident, plead guilty to 22 counts associated with the incident including second-degree murder earlier this year. Hanright—who was 19 at the time— was sentenced to life in prison and will be up for parole in 25 years.
The candlelight vigil is scheduled to begin at 7:30 at Kohls in Woburn. A similar vigil was held in 2013 marking the third anniversary of Maguire’s death, reported The Valley Patriot.
