Volunteers Needed for Annual SCI Volunteer Leaf Raking Event

In partnership with the Woburn Council on Aging and Woburn Senior Center, Social Capital Inc. (SCI) is hosting its annual SCI Leaf Raking event to provide leaf removal assistance for seniors living in Woburn.

To continue this annual tradition in Woburn, SCI is seeking volunteers of all ages to rake the yards of local seniors in need of help. This is a great experience for families and groups looking to get involved in the community as well as students looking for community service hours.

The general volunteer event will take place on Saturday, November 16th, with shifts available in the morning and afternoon. Volunteer check-in times are 9AM-10AM and 12PM-1PM. On the 16th, all volunteers are to meet at the Woburn Senior Center during their check-in times for registration and further instructions. Coffee, water, and snacks will be available during this time. Although SCI will provide bags, there is a limited number of rakes available to the volunteers. In 2023, 210 volunteers (113 adults and 97 youth) raked leaves for 21 local Seniors.

In addition to the volunteer event on the 16th, SCI is excited to announce its first SCI Leaf Raking Corporate Volunteer Day. This event will be held on Friday, November 15th. Shifts are available throughout the day, and volunteers will meet at their assigned locations.
