Wilmington Selectmen Approve Economic Development Committee
The group will be charged with attracting business to town.

WILMINGTON, MA -- More than a year after it was first publicly proposed, Wilmington Selectmen on Monday formed an Economic Development Committee. The committee will try to assess what kind of business developments want to see, look at the town's strengths and weaknesses for businesses and try to streamline the process for starting or relocating a business to Wilmington.
Town manager Jeffrey Hull told selectmen that the group would serve as an advisory committee that would file an annual report. A member of the committee would meet at least once a year with selectmen.
Hull, Planning Director Valerie Gingrich, and Selectmen Greg Bendel will serve on the committee, which is expected to meet monthly. The remainder of the committee's membership will include a representative from the Wilmington/Tewksbury Chamber of Commerce, two business owners, and a resident at large.

The idea for the committee was first proposed in December 2017 by former selectman Mike Champoux and after a several-months stretch where Wilmington saw several businesses close.
