Woburn-Based Monotype Imaging Holdings Names New CEO

The board of directors for Woburn-based Monotype Imaging Holdings Inc. (Nasdaq:TYPE) has appointed Scott Landers as its new chief executive officer, according to a press release.

Landers replaces Doug Shaw, who has been with the company since its inception in 1986. Landers has served as Monotype’s chief operating officer since march and joined the company in 2008 as its chief financial officer. Landers will take over as CEO on Jan. 1.

And over the last ten months, I’ve gained an even deeper appreciation for the talent, passion and dedication of the Monotype team.”

Shaw will assume a role on the company’s board of directors and will serve in a part-time advisory role until his scheduled retirement in March.

“I’m extremely proud of what the Monotype team has accomplished since my founding of the company 30 years ago, and am confident that I’m leaving the business in exceptionally capable hands,” current CEO Doug Shaw said in the press release. “I’ve worked closely with Scott during the last ten months, to ensure a seamless transition for him and the company. Now I’m looking forward to spending time with my family, and to giving back to the community through charitable and civic work.”

Landers served as vice president of global finance for Pitney Bowes Software. He received his bachelor’s degree from Le Moyne College and his masters in business administration from The College of Saint Rose.
