Woburn Council President Appointed Probate And Family Court Judge

Council President Michael Anderson, the district four alderman, will have to resign his city council position.

WOBURN, MA — Woburn City Council President Michael Anderson was confirmed last week as a state Probate and Family Court judge.

Anderson, the ward four alderman and a family court lawyer in private practice, was nominated to the position in June by Gov. Charlie Baker. The Massachusetts Governor's Council Assembly confirmed the nomination Wednesday.

As first reported by the Daily Times Chronicle, Anderson was confirmed unanimously.

Governor's Council member Marilyn Petitto Devaney noted Anderson's experience and qualifications, including publications and his solo practice. She also praised his appointment as "not political."

Anderson will have to resign his seat on City Council. City Council will select a new president as well as a new alderman to serve the remainder of his term.
