Woburn Fire Wins $545K Federal Grant For Heavy Rescue Truck
The city's fire department was one of 221 nationwide to win FEMA grants, Friday.

WOBURN, MA — The Woburn Fire Department was awarded a $545,454 federal grant for a heavy rescue truck, Friday.
The department was one of 221 nationwide to win grants from the Federal Emergency Management Agency's Assistance To Firefighters Grant program. FEMA announced $42.4 million in direct assistance through the program, Friday, including 15 grants to Massachusetts fire departments.
"Since 2001, the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) has helped firefighters and other first responders obtain critically needed equipment, protective gear, emergency vehicles, training and other resources necessary for protecting the public and emergency personnel from fire and related hazards," according to a FEMA news release.
