Woburn Gas Station Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested

WOBURN, MA — A Dorchester man was arrested Saturday evening on armed robbery charges for allegedly robbing and attempting to rob two Woburn businesses. Robert Bauer, 48, was arrested on two counts of armed robbery and one count of assault with intent to commit armed robbery.

Woburn Police Chief Robert Ferullo commended his officers and law enforcement agencies which assisted in the arrest.

"I want to commend Woburn Police Detectives, our neighboring police departments and the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section for their work on this case," Woburn Police Chief Robert Ferullo said in a statement. "I would also like to thank the public for its assistance identifying the suspect. Today we were able to take a dangerous criminal off the streets."

Police say police were able to identify Bauer through video surveillance and assistance from the public. The Dorchester man is accused of attempting to rob the BP Gas Station on Washington St. on Dec. 9 and committing an armed robbery at the Speedway convenience store on Montvale Ave. on Dec. 5.

Police say Bauer is believed to be connected to robberies in Stoneham, Somerville and Lynnfield.

Bauer was arrested by Woburn Police with assistance from the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section, Boston Police, Stoneham Police and Somerville Police arrest at around 6 p.m. Saturday. He was booked at the Boston Police Department and then transported to the Woburn Police Department where he is being held without bail pending arraignment at Woburn District Court on Monday.
