WOBURN, MA—The coronavirus may have cancelled Woburn's traditional Memorial Day parade this year, but it hasn't stopped plans to honor the brave men and women who've protected our freedoms, our liberty and our country.

This Memorial Day, Mayor Scott Galvin says the city will join other municipalities across the Commonwealth by lighting up Woburn Common and City Hall in gold lights to honor Gold Star families. According to city officials, this united gold lighting also offers hope and healing to all those families grieving any military loss through active U.S. service duty.

To honor the nation's military, this Friday, Mayor Galvin, along with the Woburn Veterans Department and the Friends of Woburn Veterans will also place flags at Calvary Cemetery, which is located on Washington Street. They'll also do this Saturday at Woodbrook Cemetery, which is located at 100 Salem St.
