Woburn Man Arrested As Suspect In String Of Armed Robberies

The third time wasn't a charm for John Bowdon, 47, of Woburn, when it came to robbing convenience stores in Boston.

MELROSE, MA -- The Boston Police Department's Fugitive Apprehension Unit arrested John Bowdon, 47, of Woburn, on Green Street in Melrose Tuesday morning. Bowden was wanted as a suspect in three armed robberies in convenience stores in Boston, including two at the same Charletown convenience store.

The most recent came on Feb. 8, when Bowdon allegedly robbed the Venice Convenience Store on Cooper Street in downtown Boston. Bowdon allegedly robbed the store at gunpoint and assaulted the clerk before making off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

When Boston Police detectives distributed images from surveillance footage to police officers, some officer recognized Bowdon from previous interactions with police. An arrest warrant was issued for the Venice robbery, as well as for charges related to two separate incidents at the A-1 Convenience in Charlestown.

Bowdon was arrested without incident at about 8:25 Tuesday morning. He is scheduled to be arraigned at Boston Muncipal Court on all charges.
